To serve breakfast for birds you first have to save your toast from breakfast. If you eat all your toast then you have to take pancakes when they come around. The server will look at you funny, but you say “yes, two – we are very hungry today “. Then you hide them in your paper napkin and pour some syrup on your plate and swish it around with your spoon so it looks like you ate all your pancakes. Then you take your napkin-pancake package and you head for the salt marsh.
At first there are few birds. Those that are there roost on roofs looking for fish.
So you throw one piece of pancake. Here comes a bird!
Word spreads. Here they come! Birds begin to fight over the pieces.
Soon the salt marsh is filled with diving, squawking, battling birds.
Pancakes are all gone. Peace and quiet returns to the marsh. Birds return to their perches, but continue to be vigilant in hopes pancakes again fly through the air.
